The FreeCAD North America Meetup event happened last weekend and was kindly hosted in the fantastic Knox Makers in Knoxville Tennessee.

Over on the FreeCAD Project Association youtube account you can find talks from the event that went out on the livestream. This includes the excellent talk (embedded above) by FreeCAD maintainer, FPA Project Administrator, and general FreeCAD community legend, Chris Hennes.

In his talk, “FreeCAD 26.3: What’s New?” Chris shows the “top 20” new features of this FreeCAD 26.3 release. He begins explaining why “FreeCAD 26.3” is called such, explaining the new CalVer versioning convention FreeCAD has adopted. Chris then goes on to show and tell an excellent curation of improvements and new additions we can expect to see in 26.3. It’s exciting stuff! With new functionality such as the eagerly awaited text in sketcher, as well as “under the hood” refinements like improvements in background recomputes, it’s well worth a watch.
